Chief Executive Officer – Dr. Malgorzata Szerszeniewska
Dr. Szerszeniewska co-founded EastHORN in 2009. Previously, she was president of AbCRO, Inc., an American-owned CRO operating in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Prior to that Dr. Szerszeniewska spent more than 10 years at Covance, where she held various positions including Regional Resource Manager, Project Manager, Director of Strategic Development and Clinical Operations in CEE, and was responsible for development of the company's Clinical Development Services in the CEE region.
Before joining the CRO industry, she worked as an Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Specialist at Warsaw University Hospital. Dr. Szerszeniewska's therapeutic experience includes oncology, neurology, cardiovascular, psychiatry and gastrointestinal medicine. Chief Operating Officer – Dr. Ales Horacek
Dr. Horacek co-founded EastHORN in 2009. He has worked in a number of CROs in the Czech Republic since 1995. In 2004 he founded Unimed, where he was CEO from 2004 to 2009. He developed the operations of Unimed in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Bulgaria, before Unimed was acquired by EastHORN in 2009. Dr. Horacek’s therapeutic experience includes oncology, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, rheumatology, CNS, dermatology, metabolic disorders, diabetes, urology, paediatric and medical devices.
Before joining the CRO industry, he worked as a cardiologist in the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague. He is a graduate of Charles University Medical School, Prague. ales.horacek@easthorn.eu
Dr. Wood co-founded EastHORN in 2009. He has 30 years experience in pharmaceutical research and development, both in pharmaceutical companies and in CROs. Most recently, he was Senior Director, R&D Operations at NicOx SA, a French biotechnology company. Previously, Dr. Wood was General Manager, Europe and Asia-Pacific at Covance and prior to that at Quintiles in different business development and general management roles. He started his clinical development career with Sandoz (now Novartis) in Switzerland.
